"The Rocks" of Milton-Freewater District in the Walla Walla AVA, is named after the large river stones that permeate the vineyards, which add distinct characteristics to the wine, and distinguish it from other Washington AVAs. Our affection for site-expressive Syrah led us here in 2014, when we purchased the Ancient Stones vineyard and immediately got to work tilling the soil multiple times each year to expose the latent rocks. The results are clearly shown in every glass of our Domaine de Pierres (Field of Stones.)

"The 2022 Domaine de Pierres Syrah from Betz showcases a glimmering bright ruby cherry core with a neon pink rim. It’s a more earthy and complex Syrah than some of its siblings boasting notes of crushed black peppercorn, liquid bacon fat, macerated boysenberries, black plum skin, toasted walnut shells, and toasted cedary herbs. Full-bodied and big across the mouthfeel, it sports plush tannins and medium levels of raw acidity. I adored the meaty finish that hits hard on the back of the palate."
