La Côte Rousse has undergone a metamorphosis. From its original roots in Red Mountain, this wine has always dominated with dark fruits and powerful tannins. For the first time ever, the 2021 Syrah La Cote Rousse comes from the Olsen Vineyard in the Yakima Valley.

94 Points - Jeb Dunnuck

"The change doesn’t appear to have affected the quality, since this is brilliant, offering beautiful blue fruits, some complex lavender, pepper, and floral nuances, medium to full body, and outstanding length. The tannins here are certainly more rounded than past vintages from Red Mountain, and this should have some early appeal while still aging gracefully."

"For the first time ever, the 2021 Syrah La Cote Rousse comes from the Olsen Vineyard in the Yakima Valley, and going forward it will no longer be based on Ciel du Cheval fruit. The change doesn’t appear to have affected the quality, since this is brilliant, offering beautiful blue fruits, some complex lavender, pepper, and floral nuances, medium to full body, and outstanding length. The tannins here are certainly more rounded than past vintages from Red Mountain, and this should have some early appeal while still aging gracefully."

"Bolder and riper with a fresh and juicy, dark-fruited nose, the 2021 Syrah La Côte Rousse reveals fantastic, spicy and floral aromas. Medium to full-bodied, the Syrah should be excellent upon release, offering up juicy, firm and ripe fruit tones before gliding to a wonderful lingering finish."
