Domaine de Pierres (Field of Stones.) was added to our family of single-site Syrahs in 2016. The Rocks of Milton Freewater AVA is named after the large river stones permeating the vineyards, creating Syrah distinct from any other place in Washington State. Our affection for site-expressive Syrah led us here in 2014, when we purchased the Ancient Stones vineyard and immediately got to work tilling the soil multiple times each year to expose the latent rocks. The results are clearly shown in every glass.
96 Points – Jeb Dunnuck
"Coming from a site in the Walla Walla Valley, the 2021 Syrah Domaine De Pierres is another impressive wine from this talented team. Ruby/plum-hued, with a classic, wild, gamey Syrah nose revealing a core of blue fruits as well as peppery herb and lavender nuances, it’s medium to full-bodied, has a layered, elegant, crunchy mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and outstanding length."

94-96 Points (barrel score) – Robert Parker's Wine Advocate"Made with 100% whole cluster Syrah, the 2021 Syrah Domaine de Pierres opens with a classic Walla Walla nose of hot rocks, dark cherries and hints of savory spices with fresh oak tones. Medium to full-bodied, the palate bursts with vibrant flavors of black raspberry before offering soft meaty notes, red and black peppercorns and hints of iodine and baked earth. The wine concludes with a delicate mineral tension and savory finish; this will be a blockbuster once released later this year."94 Points – James SucklingThis wine ".....has attractive notes of blueberries, dark cherries, plums, thyme, licorice and peach pits. White pepper, too. It’s full-bodied with beautiful spiciness and pepperiness. Underlying minerality, too. Ripe, supple tannins. Drink or hold.
