The name “Bésoleil” is a marriage of a Spanish word and a French word meaning “kissed by the sun,” Beso and Soleil! It speaks to our long-held conviction that a profound expression of Grenache (and its Southern Rhône brethren) can emerge from Washington’s precise marriage of sun and soil. Modeled after Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the classic French Grenache-based gem, it is immediately enticing, richly scented, and seductively textured.

92-94 Points (barrel score) - Jeb Dunnuck
"The 2021 Besoleil might be my favorite vintage of this cuvée to date, and it has a touch more density and richness. Based on 60% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre, 16% Counoise, and the rest Petite Sirah, it has a great nose of wild strawberry and darker berry fruits as well as complex peppery herbs, flowers, and a kiss of iron. Medium-bodied, balanced, and elegant, it has fine tannins and a great finish."

92-94 Points (barrel score) - Robert Parkers Wine Advocate
"Tasted as a barrel sample and set to be released this fall, the 2021 Bésoleil is composed of 60% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre, 16% Counoise and 4% Petite Sirah. Cherry, fruity and succulent with fresh florals and delightful mineral and potpourri essences, the nose is bright and focused. Medium to full-bodied, the Bésoleil offers a ripe and juicy frame of fruit before lingering notions of petrichor and soft cherry blossom essence sway on the fresh, balanced finish."

    93 Points, James Suckling
"Attractive and fragrant, with spiced cherries, dried rose petals, tangerine peel and spices. It’s medium-bodied, juicy and persistent, with impressive concentration and energy to the fruit character. The tannins are sleek and well integrated. Crunchy and delicious with a vivid finish. 60% grenache, 20% mourvedre, 16% counoise and 4% petite sirah. Drink or hold."
