This horizontal allows you to compare and contrast the differences in the single variety Syrah across 3 Washington vineyards. Set contains 1 bottle of each (750ml):

  • 2019 La Serenne
  • 2019 Cote Patriarche
  • 2019 Domaine de Pierres

Boushey Vineyard is the highest altitude and latest harvested of the four Syrahs we make. The 2019 is an absolutely classic La Serenne. Cracked espresso bean, crushed rock, shaved fennel, dark berries and black pepper fill the glass alongside bright violet and fresh herbs. The palate, while medium-bodied, is rich, vibrant and expressive adding a lavish combination of crushed blackberries and blueberries to the luxurious mouthfeel.  The tannin is present but polished, with superb acidity propelling a prolonged, intense finish.  This flourishes with a short decant now and can be cellared 15-20 years. 93-95 pts, Jeb Dunnuck

Home to our 2019 Cote Patriarche, Red Willow Vineyard has  become perhaps the most influential sites for Syrah in the state. smoked meat and fresh cracked pepper join a brooding mix of blackberry compote, graphite and cedar.  The palate amply combines power and freshness with pronounced tannic structure and a rich mixture of black and blue fruits layered with fleur de sel, dried nori and wood spice persisting into an intense and lengthy finish.  This has many additional layers that will come out in the cellar and easily be enjoyed for 15-20 years. 92-94 pts, Jeb Dunnuck

The Rocks of Milton Freewater AVA is named after the large river stones permeating the vineyards there, creating Syrah distinct from any other place in Washington State. In 2014, we purchased the Ancient Stones vineyard and immediately got to work tilling the soil multiple times each year to expose the latent rocks. 2019 Domaine des Pierres is both singular and immediately recognizable.  A brilliant ruby-purple in the glass, the aromatics jump out the moment it’s poured.  A bright core of rich red, blue and black fruit immersed in a complex bouquet of white and black pepper, green olive, violets and dried rose petal.  The palate is full-bodied and plush with a juicy core of liqueur-like fruit: blackberry, raspberry, and cherry surrounded with fresh tarragon, green tea, and lavender.  Expansive and supple texture is balanced by precise acidity which keeps the wine focused and supported by ripe tannins lingering through the savory finish.  Scrumptious now, this will broaden in the cellar for 10-15 years. 94-96 pts, Jeb Dunnuck
